Following a specialist fellowship dedicated to shoulder and elbow surgery, Mr Kenyon began his career as a Consultant Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon at the Countess of Chester NHS Foundation trust. He continues to practice his NHS career in Chester and on the Wirral and has been Clinical Lead of the Orthopaedic and Trauma service in Chester for 2 years.

Mr Kenyon is both a clinical and educational supervisor for doctors in training and those in staff grade positions. He is a GMC certified educational supervisor.

He lives in Cheshire with wife and two young children. In his late 30’s Mr Kenyon, having represented Cheshire for Rugby Union as a schoolboy, took up running. He has since regularly completed the Chester Park Run and finished several 10 Km, two Half marathon and a Full Marathon races.

Mr Kenyon undertook undergraduate training in medicine and surgery at the University of Liverpool and qualified as a junior doctor in 2004. He spent the next ten years focusing on a career in orthopaedic surgery, gaining Fellowship to the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2011.

Mr Kenyon attends regional and national meetings regarding surgery of the upper limb including BESS, and sees private insured and self-paying as well as NHS patients at the Grosvenor Nuffield Hospital.

His main interest lies with trauma and upper limb elective surgery. He sees patients with shoulder / elbow / wrist / hand pain and treats a multitude of trauma and elective pathologies. He offers treatments including ultrasound guided injections of joints and soft tissue, hydrodilitation for frozen shoulder and barbotage of calcific tendonitis.

Mr Kenyon offers the following surgery at the Grosvenor Nuffield Hospital:

  • Shoulder replacement - Total anatomical, hemi or reverse polarity replacement
  • Shoulder arthroscopy including tendon repair, stabilization, release of frozen shoulder and excision arthroplasty
  • Open shoulder stabilization (Latarjet procedure)
  • Soft tissue reconstruction of the shoulder
  • Primary fixation for upper limb fractures where appropriate e.g. clavicle plating
  • Non-union surgery of the upper limb including bone grafting
  • Upper limb corrective osteotomy
  • Tennis elbow / Golfers elbow release
  • Elbow arthrolysis for contractures with debridement (OK procedure)
  • Release of peripheral nerve entrapment - carpal / cubital / radial tunnel ect
  • Wrist partial or total arthrodesis
  • Trapeziectomy or CMCJ fusion for base of thumb arthritis
  • Trigger finger release
  • DIPJ fusion / mucoid excision of the fingers / thumb
  • Ganglion excision of the wrist
  • Excision of Dupuytrens contracture

Mr Kenyons passion within the upper limb lies within the shoulder joint where he enjoys treating patients non-operatively and operatively to remove their pain and improve their function.

Mr Kenyon runs his outpatient clinic at the Grosvenor Nuffield every Wednesday morning and alternate Wednesday afternoon.
